The Sipu Homestay is run by the Riba family, third-generation Galo from Aalo. What started as one spare room for trekking friends has grown into a small, hand-built homestay with the same kitchen, the same neighbours, and the same morning view over the Siyom.
We grow most of what we cook — millet, mustard greens, chilli, banana flower — and our evenings often end around the fire with local stories, songs, and a quiet glass of apong.
Say hello"The most genuine homestay I've stayed at in the North-East. The food alone is worth the trip — and the morning fog over the river is something I still think about."
"Quiet, warm, and so well kept. The family treated us like cousins visiting from afar. Plan for three nights at least — one is not enough."
"A real homestay, not a hotel pretending to be one. We hiked with Tako to a viewpoint above the village — that one afternoon made the trip."
